Manchester United CEO Belada was interviewed by "United We Stand". This was Belada's first interview since he took over the job at Manchester United last July. The magazine's editor, Andy Mitten, streamlined the 70-minute conversation with Belada and summed it up in an article on The Athletic.
When asked why he strongly supported Amolin, Bellada said that Amolin's early appointment was difficult but beneficial, similar to Guardiola's first season in charge of Manchester City.
Bellada expounded on the considerations behind the introduction of Amorin in November last year. This decision was "led by the technical team and therefore not within my area of expertise."
Bellada admitted that appointing a head coach in the middle of the season "might make the team's performance more difficult." We view this as an investment for the coming seasons because we will give Amolin time to get to know the team, the club and the Premier League.
So, by this point in time (referring to June 2025), we have completed all the discussions on "what the team needs" and "how to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title through a 2-3 year plan".
We have a very clear roadmap on how to achieve our goals. If Amolin didn't start working until July 1, 2025, it would be impossible for us to accumulate all this knowledge, right? And this is precisely the value that I feel he has brought about by taking office early in the past seven or eight months. He has experienced difficulties in the Premier League, and so has the team. Precisely because of this, I think this will really help our future.
When asked if this was similar to Guardiola's situation at that time, Bellada replied:
There are indeed many similarities. Guardiola has adhered to his philosophy. Given the honors he has won in the past, he has huge financial confidence. The club allowed him to make adjustments in that first season which was below his usual level. That summer, the club fully supported him. The team began to win and initiated a winning cycle that continued into this season.
